United Powerlifting Association (UPA) is a registered sports organization dedicated to the promotion, development, and regulation of powerlifting in India. Established in 2024 and registered under the Societies Act (Registration No: F-0045796/THN), UPA aims to create a strong platform for athletes, especially at the grassroots level.

The association focuses on encouraging powerlifting and strength sports as an important part of physical culture while maintaining high standards of sportsmanship, safety, and fair competition.
UPA works actively to develop the sport across villages, districts, and states, ensuring that athletes from all backgrounds have an opportunity to participate. The association keeps participation accessible by maintaining affordable entry fees, making the sport inclusive for aspiring powerlifters.

Currently, 16 states are affiliated with UPA, with over 500 registered athletes actively participating in various competitions and events organized by the association.

UPA organizes competitions in multiple categories for both men and women, ranging from Sub-Junior to Masters level, ensuring athletes of all age groups can compete and grow in the sport.

Competitions are conducted under the following divisions:

Classic Division and Equipped Division

Full Powerlifting

Performing squat, bench pressand deadlift in one competition.

Deadlift

Lifting a barbell from the ground toa standing position.

Bench Press

Pressing a barbell upward from the chest while lying on a bench.

Squats

Lowering the body with a barbell on the shoulders and standing back up.

Their goal is to maintain transparent operations, professional event management, and continuous development of powerlifting in India.

In 2026, UPA achieved a major milestone by becoming affiliated with World Powerlifting (WP), an international organization headquartered in Australia.
